I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I had a very active youth playing soccer and was able to play internationally every year until graduation. In secondary school in Guatemala, we played in Spain, Finland, and Sweden and finished 5th-8th among 32 teams in each tournament. After graduating in 1998 from the American School of Guatemala, I was able to play for three different professional teams.
After getting married and having 4 kids, I realized that teaching and playing with them was more fun than actually playing soccer myself. My son, unfortunately, had a coach that killed his desire to play soccer. However, my three daughters started showing passion for the game when they were very young, so I decided to coach them.
In my coaching career, I now have my USSF E coaching license, and I have coached teams from the pre-school division up to U17, every single team represented both challenges and opportunities. Being able to recognize and work with players' strengths and weaknesses by developing specific training sessions is very rewarding for me. I also make sure to communicate with players and explain the reason behind the exercises, so players build their own confidence and understanding.
I love the game, and more importantly, I love to see the kids having fun with such a great sport!
